At a certain rent price, a city loses its charm. You suddenly feel like a soulless consumer rather than a contributing member of a community.
All you can think about is the lucky son of a bitch that owns the building, and how life would be perfect if you could be that son of a bitch.
So what do you do? Do you buy a building and hope to one day be that son of a bitch? Or do you become a proponent of laws that keep that son of a bitch in check?
It’s so easy to become either a frustrated communist or a motivated capitalist. I’d opt for a society of motivated capitalists. But until I’m the one cashing the rent checks, damn the man.
